Andrew Malcolm, who is based on the West Coast of Scotland, is a business development professional with over 30 years of high level experience in the leisure and commercial maritime sector. With a background in management and strategic growth, he has a proven track record of driving disruptive innovation in both emerging startups and established maritime companies such as Silver’s Marine. His success as a high-performance sailmaker/designer and an international professional yachtsman has opened doors to extraordinary opportunities that have shaped his current path. He has held a leading management role at Dales Marine Services, where he secured the first Aquaculture build order of vessel 1001 for them in 2022.
Starting his career by setting up a business at just 18, Andrew has never shied away from challenges. That early venture's success led to its acquisition by North Sails, a global industry leader, where he went on to drive market expansion across Ireland and Scotland. Andrew’s vast skill set also includes vessel upgrading, refitting and new build. He led the project of building the largest sail ever constructed for a visiting superyacht into Scottish waters. Recently, he carried out the rebuild of Sir Arnold Clark’s maxi race yacht DRUM among several other sail making projects.
In his free time, Andrew likes to spend time with his family and advocating for disabled young men and women, a subject close to his heart. Though sailing remains his passion, but now it is purely leisure as he enjoys family outings on their ‘retired’ race yacht.
