David Gray, a Scottish-born naval architect and entrepreneur, leads Marine Zero’s design team.
David has dedicated his career to pushing the possibilities of design and advancing marine technology. Starting with Lloyd’s Register, he honed his expertise in class requirements and survey techniques. He later joined Brown Brothers, developing CFD models, hydrofoil simulations, and control theories.
In 1999, David founded Ace Marine Ltd, leading notable projects like a 50m tri-deck superyacht. In 2007, he acquired A. Mylne & Co., revitalising its legacy by designing new vessels like the PF36 and the record-setting electric tender, Bolt 18. The Bolt 18 went on to set a British water speed record in 2012, and is now on display at the Scottish Maritime Museum.
David co-founded Vita Yachts in 2017, developing high performance electric luxury boats that achieved multiple wins at the Monaco Offshore Electric Powerboat races. By 2019, he was leading a remote design team supporting the Type 26 frigate program at Morson Projects.
In 2022, he was headhunted by Dales Marine to develop a road transportable electric ferry. A year later, he joined Seabird Technologies as Chief Naval Architect, ensuring E1 Race Boats' success in Jeddah.
